You know how certain foods instantly transport you back in time? For me, it’s the smell of freshly roasted almonds—the kind that fills the air at every Christmas market in Germany.

 

After moving to the U.S. in 2016, I missed those familiar flavors—and I missed working in the food industry. But it wasn’t until last year that I finally decided to take the leap into food vending. When I applied for my first holiday market, I planned to sell traditional German sweets like gingerbread and marzipan etc. But there was a twist—the event already had vendors for those treats. The only thing they still needed? Gebrannte Mandeln—traditional candied almonds.

So, I pivoted. I gave it a shot, and from that very first batch, I was hooked. The process, the aroma, the way people’s faces lit up when they tasted them—it felt like I had stumbled onto something special.

I even went all in and invested in a Mandelprofi—one of the only authentic German nut-roasting machines that’s specifically adapted to meet U.S. regulations and fittings for export.

Now, I’m honored to bring gebrannte Mandeln to markets year-round, but especially during the holiday season, when they truly belong. Whether it’s the classic cinnamon-vanilla or a savory twist, every batch is made with care and tradition.
